Located in the Banglamphu neighborhood, (I love saying that), Khao San Road is only a couple of blocks long but is one of the most active places in the city. It's a backpacker's heaven with very cheap accommodations, some of which appear to be surprisingly good for the price, though some are little more than roach motels. I would only stay here if sleep is not high on your agenda, as it appears that the area is in perpetual spring break mode. Definitely worth a visit. One of our best meals was at May Kaidee's located in an alley behind a 7-11 at the end of the road. Thai vegetarian may seem a misnomer, but she does it right.
