The Washington School Inn, originally called Central School Building #1 was constructed in 1889 at a cost of $13,000.00. It was renamed the Washington School in 1897 to better distinguish it from schools #'s 2 & 3, which were renamed the Jefferson and Lincoln Schools. It operated until 1931 but was only closed due to a lack of students. In 1936 it was purchased for $200.00 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was again purchased by an investment company in 1970. The condo project for which it was purchased failed and a local developer turned it into the Washington School Inn, an absolutely lovely Bed & Breakfast. It is one of the oldest buildings in Park City. Most structures in the city were destroyed by fire in 1898. Built of limestone, this structure survived and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
