The area around Green River, UT is some of the most desolate and uninviting land in the state. Drive west on I-70 just a little further, however and you hit a dramatic area of the state known as the San Rafael Swell and Sevier Plateau (AKA Wasatch Plateau). This desert plateau is a dramatic expanse of pink and red sandstone cliffs and washes, punctuated by green at the higher elevations. A welcome relief from the desolation only e few miles to the east.
