The "sidewalk"
to the left is how you get a side walk up a 30 degree slope. The
valley in which Park City sits is so narrow and steep sided that
at the turn of the century they had walking bridges that crossed
over the valley floor. This is where many of the Asian immigrants
had businesses and many of the city's elite felt it distasteful
to walk among them.

The
Park City Miners' Hospital is home to
the Park City Library. An unusual collaboration between the community
and the local miner's union, it was built in 1904 at a cost of $800,000.
After the hospital doors closed in the mid 50's, it became a youth
hostel. By the 70's however, the structure was vacant and almost demolished.
Civic outcry saved the building and in the late 70's the 400 ton structure
was relocated to it's present location. It has been part of the library
system since 1982 and has been fully restored.
