One of the things that was new to the Olympic games was the way many of the structures downtown were decorated. Using the same technology that is used for advertisements on buses, they cover many of the tallest buildings in the city with banners commemorating the games. The banners are perforated, so that from close up you can see through them, preserving views. They are totally opaque from a distance however.
