The New Grand Hotel was built in 1910 by another mining magnet, John Daly. Designed by Chicago architect - John C Craig, it's quite a handsome-red-brick building with wide cornices. In the basement under a cast iron canopy is the Manhattan Club which has been in operation since 1951. The Royal eatery, at street level is a damn fine burger joint as well.
