Big
& Little Cottonwood Canyons are the canyons that access
the four ski resorts above the Salt Lake Valley. The names do not actually
refer to the size of the canyons, but literally the size of the cottonwoods
that grow in them. Alta and Snowbird ski resorts are in Little Cottonwood
and Solitude & Brighton lie in Big Cottonwood. The canyons differ
in that Little Cottonwood is a broad glacial canyon and Little Cottonwood
was formed by Big Cottonwood Creek making it a "V" shaped Canyon.
Both canyons offer great hikes, rock climbing, camping & spectacular
skiing within minutes of the Salt Lake Valley.
