Just east of Cedar City sits Cedar Breaks, a naturally occurring amphitheater situated at 10,000 feet elevation and dropping 2,000 feet in places. The pictures don't begin to do it justice.
The area was carved out of the sandstone by wind erosion. Nearby is Brian head ski resort. I've never skied there but it is supposed to be a pretty good resort. It's a favorite of skiers from Las Vegas which is only about 3 hours away.
Forgive the photo quality. These were taken way back when I was first experimenting with slide film.
