This fancifully decorated structure with the unfortunate name of House of the Blackheads was originally built in 1344 as a merchants guild house but was entirely destroyed during WW II and buried by the Soviets. It was faithfully reconstructed in 1999 for Riga's 800 year anniversary and is currently used as a full time museum and part time concert hall. Blackheads was the name of the merchants guild in Riga.
