Starbucks
has a very large presence in Japan, more so than any other American
chain that I noticed.
The
Asakusa View Hotel, our hotel while in Tokyo. Part of the View hotel
chain, it didn't exactly have any Asian charm or local flavor but
it got the job done. It was a clean, full service hotel at a very
reasonable price. It's location was great, being close to subway
lines and attractions.

Did
you know that Christmas is big in Japan? Neither did I.
In
spite of the English name, Freshness Burger is an entirely Japanese
entity. Gotta love the name. Official
website
While
Starbucks looks pretty much the same as they do in the US, McDonalds
definitely has a regional flavor, and no, I did not eat at McDonalds.

Yoyogi
National Gymnasium was built in 1961 for the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo.
Designed by famous Japanese architect, Kenzo Tange, it is famous for
its suspended roof, a very cutting edge design at the time. The stadium
hosted swimming and diving events. |
