Constructed in 1920 and located in a beautiful wooded park, Meiji-Jingu is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken. Though it was destroyed during the bombings of WW II, it has been faithfully restored using authentic Japanese cypress. The massive torii are among the tallest in Japan.

We were fortunate enough to arrive at the shrine during a wedding ceremony. Kara took the picture to the left.
In Japan - sake is the term for all alcoholic beverages. Sake specifically is referred to as nihonshu, which means Japanese Sake. These are barrels of sacred nihonshu donated to the shrine.
Kara took this one. Very nice, in spite of the light.
