In the Shibuya ward lies Harajuku. Harajuku is one of Tokyo's premier shopping districts...a sort of Rodeo Drive of the east if you will. Trendy and packed with spendy shops and their wealthy patrons, it is a fine place to just eat, window shop, people-watch and simply wander. Apparently it becomes quite the show on Sunday afternoons when the teens come out sporting all the latest fashion trends, with a tendency towards all things Goth, (or just plain bizarre). Though we never got to see the tween fashions, it was a wonderful place to spend one of our few warm and sunny afternoons in Japan.

I was fascinated to discover that Christmas is a surprisingly big deal in Japan. We saw many Christmas displays in shops and Starbucks had all the Christmas flavors available. This was only the second week in November. We even saw the occasional Christmas tree.
