Niemelä Tenant Farm was the first building groups to be relocated to the island. It was moved here from Konginkangas in 1909. The farm consists of a small living quarters, store rooms, barn, stables and other out buildings. Most date from around 1840. The stables (Below) had a small living space above that functioned as a summer sleeping quarters above the horses. A classic example of a Finnish tenant farm, (similar to sharecropping in the American South).
