Alvar Aalto's home and studio. The studio is located in a quiet residential street in suburban Helsinki. One would have no idea that this was the residence and workplace of Finland's most famous architect, arguably Finland's most famous resident next to composer Jean Sibelius. There are few windows on the street side to preserve privacy and limit distractions. The rest of the building however, is all about natural light. The studio, located in the Munkkiniemi
district was constructed in 1936 and was the first of his studios. He later was forced to build larger studios as his practice grew in size.

Galinsky.com has a good page on the studio with some brief facts.

This is Aalto's larger studio, designed in 1955. Unfortunately, the one day a week that it was closed is the day we happened to visit.
