Riding Camels in the Red Sea Mountains is a different experience than it is at the pyramids. I would say it's definitely more loosely regulated. The saddles are not nearly as comfortable (mine was actually a bit painful) and the companies that do these rides combine them with other activities (ATV rides, Bedouin shows, etc.). Still, it has it's advantages. Once you leave the ATV's behind, you are most definitely in the desert. There are fewer homes, businesses or touts around to distract from the experience. You also move at a much more leisurely pace. They are in no hurry to move you along and you will usually have a Bedouin guide. Of course, our ride home didn't materialize and we ended up stranded - alone - in the dark - surrounded by nothing but dust and camels for about an hour while we waited for our ride (apparently the van broke down). It all worked out though, and there were no muggings or other mishaps to report. Had some great tasting Bedouin tea though. And the scenery was awesome.

It was so beautiful in the setting sun that you forget about all the dust kicked up by the ATV's.

Left: Now that is a cute honeymoon picture.

It really was beautiful right before sunset.
