Located in Edfu, The Temple of Horus is a baby by Egyptian standards. Started during the Ptolemaic period by Ptolemy III in 237 BC, it was competed 180 years later by Cleopatra's father Ptolemy XII. It was a tried and true design that was already ancient by the time it was constructed. What makes it special is its state of preservation. Built high above the Nile, this temple was never flooded. As a result, it is in remarkable condition. Even much of the original mud brick wall that surrounded it is still intact. It is the best preserved ancient temple in Egypt.
