In 2001, Invesco Field replaced the aging and crumbling Mile High Stadium. Mile High Stadium had hosted several pro sports teams in Denver, including: The Broncos, The Rockies and the Rapids. While few people really had a problem with replacing the old stadium, the name change caused such a controversy that Invesco (the firm that had purchased the naming rights to the stadium) had to add "@ Mile High" to the end of Invesco Field to quell the critics. A rather striking stadium that holds over 71,000, it feels remarkably cramped when full.
