Located in DPAC, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House started life as the Quigg Newton Denver Municipal Auditorium 1908, just in time for that year's Democratic National Convention. Designed by Robert Wilson, it had a seating capacity of over 12,000 and was the second largest auditorium in the country next to Madison Square Garden. In 2005 the theater underwent major renovation and was renamed the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. I was able to get a hard hat tour during construction. The final result is a beautiful Opera House with comfortable seating and excellent acoustics.
