The main branch of the Denver Public Library was completed in 1995 and designed by Michael Graves, who is considered by many to be the father of post modernism. The structure is one of the most famous in Denver and receives over a million visitors per year. While the building uses some wonderful materials in its cladding, the design does it's best to flatten them out, making them two dimensional and almost cartoonish. Still the library is actually an addition to a much much smaller library built in 1956 and the fact that you would be totally unaware of this if you didn't know, speaks to the architect' skill.
