Boulder is a pleasant
college town just north of Denver. Though it is very close, the population
is so liberal and eclectic that the it's often referred to as the Republic
of Boulder. These are old photos taken back in '96 when I was in the area
for a tunneling seminar, (damn I'm getting old). They aren't the best
photos, but I still haven't gotten around to getting better ones of the
area yet. The girl's name is Cristina Beloica. She was a tourist from
Romania who didn't have a camera. She asked if I would take a picture
of her with the mountains in the background and send it to her in Romania.
This was only a short time after the Ceausescu years and I'm pretty sure
Romania was in total chaos at the time. I have no idea if she ever got
the picture. Looking back, it's a shame I didn't keep her address, but
I knew very little about the former Soviet republics at the time and didn't
realize how novel a Romanian tourist was. |
